This article shows examples of error messages from the DNG log and explains their causes.
Distinction:
This article describes error messages that cannot be found under the Error List menu item in the ReqIF-Manager as these are DNG error messages. The error messages described here originate from the DNG log, which you can open from the Log module using the Open DNG Log button.
Examples:
#1 Error importing Artifact into module
Error importing Artifact into module _<ModuleArtefaktID>: Propagated exception; original message [NotFoundException: Propagated exception; original message [NotFoundException: Item URI:<ArtefaktURI>, ID: <ArtefaktID>.]]: Propagated exception; original message [NotFoundException: Propagated exception; original message [NotFoundException: Item URI: <ArtefaktURI>, ID: <ArtefaktID>.]]]
Cause: The artifact to be updated does not exist in the change set of the import.
To be checked:
- Is the DNG stream up-to-date, have all relevant change sets been delivered?
- Was the correct DNG stream selected for the import?
- Have there been any (accidental) deletions/archiving by users?
- Try calling up the <ArtefactURI> mentioned in the error message in the browser.
#2 Could not create entry for (ForbiddenException)
Could not create entry for _<ReqIF-ID> using service types; 403 Propagated exception; original message [ForbiddenException: com.ibm.rdm.fronting.server.exception.ForbiddenException]: Propagated exception; original message [ForbiddenException: com.ibm.rdm.fronting.server.exception.ForbiddenException]
Cause: The user used does not have the rights for Save Types in DNG in this example. To check the user rights, proceed as follows:
- Open the corresponding DNG project via the cogwheel in the top right-hand corner and select Manage this Project Area.
- In the Overview menu item on the left, check the configured role of the user used.
- In the Permissions menu item, select the role of the user and adjust the user rights under Requirements Management Resources for the Save Types permission.
- A complete list of all required user rights can be found in the user manual.
If user rights/permissions are missing, the following character string is often displayed in the error message: (Permissions)ForbiddenException. In such a case, it is helpful to know exactly when the error occurs so that you do not have to check all user rights. Please follow the steps described in the log.
#3 Errors occurred during the transformation (PermissionsForbiddenException)
E231: Errors occurred during the transformation of the ReqIF file. Please refer to the module log for more detailed information.
E010: The operation was not successful: Could not load DNG data
Could not create dummy export
Forbidden com.ibm.rdm.fronting.server.exception.PermissionsForbiddenException
Cause: The user used does not have the rights for Manage ReqIF in DNG in this example. This error can also occur directly while working with the ReqIF-Manager. However, the cause and its handling remain the same.
To check the user rights, proceed as follows:
- Open the corresponding DNG project via the gear wheel at the top right and select Manage this Project Area.
- In the Overview menu item on the left, check the configured role of the user used.
- In the Permissions menu item, select the role of the user and adjust the user rights under Requirements Management Resources for the Manage ReqIF permission.
- A complete list of all required user rights can be found in the user manual
#4 BadRequestException: Unable to convert resource to item
Error importing Artifact into module <ReqIF-Module-ID>: Propagated exception; original message [BadRequestException: Unable to convert resource to item]: Propagated exception; original message [BadRequestException: Unable to convert resource to item]
The cause of this problem is unknown to us at the moment, but it almost doesn't matter, because this problem has already been fixed by IBM.
- If you are using DNG version 7.0.2, install at least iFix 28.
- If you are using DNF version 7.0.3, install at least iFix 12.
